An interesting fake

May 31, 2011

This ant is a spider. Why would a spider try to look like an ant? By blending in it can snatch an ant worker now and then, and other predators would respect an ‘ant’.

How do you know it is a spider? Count the legs! A spider has eight legs (four on this side), an insect such as an ant has six legs (three on each side). This ant-fake lives on one of the Dokmai Garden gates. Why would anyone care? Because this spider is one of many true wonders surrounding us, no need to admire fake wonders.
