Cacao fruits!

January 5, 2011

In June I described our monsoon cacao trees and their blossom. Although the trees are young (18 months), one bears two large fruits which are now ripening yellow. We are so happy that this Forastero selection grows well in Chiang Mai. Many people have bought such trees from us. Do not forget to water frequently during the dry season.

A cacao fruit (Theobroma cacao, Sterculiaceae/Malvaceae) the size of a small papaya is now rapidly ripening at Dokmai Garden. We are looking forward to experiment with the seeds (the ‘beans’). If you like this blog and the work at Dokmai Garden, kindly go to our website and click ‘Like’.
