My stay at Dokmai Garden

December 5, 2010

Writing this, I am just about to leave Dokmai Garden. I have been here for 18 days, and when I told people I would be staying at a farm, they warned me that some places can make you work extremely hard and not really care about you as an individual.

However, this has not been true with my experience here. The family heartily welcomed and included us in their lives – we joined with the Loi Krathong festival and even went out for evening meals with them. They also advised that we wear hats and suncream so that we did not burn. Helping out here I can now claim that I have at least some knowledge of plants whereas before I had none.

I thank Eric and the entire Seehamongkol family for their hospitality and wish them all the best in the future.
