Activity: Cricket Soirée

October 27, 2010

Yes, many people read our blog on giant crickets and wish to know more. Therefore we arrange a Cricket Soirée.

Den, our Karen gardener from the Tak province, will teach you how to hunt gi-gong or giant crickets (Brachytrupes portentosus) in the garden at dark. Then, Den will teach you how to cook them. This is an opportunity to ask our jungle food specialist questions. Eric will be around trying to bridge folk knowledge with science. In addition:

Eric will teach how to make gi-gong toast (crickets and cheese)

Pattaramol will teach how to make rosella drinks

When: Sunday, October 31st, at 19.30 (please eat dinner before).

Where: Dokmai Garden

Cost: 200 Baht includes supervision, entrance to the garden, a gi-gong toast and a glass of rosella drink. Additional drinks à la carte.

Additional drinks: beer, coffee, water, and three types of superb and crispy Omaka Springs white wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Riesling). These wines are also served by the Dara Devi and Rachamanka hotels.

Driving information:

Registration: To get a ticket for 200 Baht, you need to send us an e-mail at least one day in advance (
