Photo contest 11. Banana flower

August 26, 2010

Banana flower spikes are often found in Thai markets. They can be sliced like a leek, and eaten raw in a salad, or used in curries. This lovely picture, with an unfolded bract exposing the male flowers of Musa acuminata, was taken at Dokmai Garden by Wyndham Hollis.
