Other contributions to the photo contest 1.

August 10, 2010

Since we had such distinguished photographers contributing to the Dokmai Garden photo contest, we have decided to publish all 15 contributions. It is very hard to select a winner, and art is subjective. Below is a photograph by Edward Simmons. It shows Thai longan pickers at break, with Khun Densak Seehamongkol, the head gardener at Dokmai Garden, to the left. Dimocarpus longan (Sapindaceae) is an edible fruit commonly grown here in the Chiang Mai valley in northern Thailand. The pastoral atmosphere with spots of light on the ground made us think of French Impressionist paintings.
